- Samson Siasia has faulted the Super Eagles list for the World Cup playoffs against Ghana this month
- The former Super Eagles forward claimed that Eguavoen should not have invited new players for the two games
- Nigeria played at the last World Cup tournament in Russia and were eliminated in the Group stage losing last tie against Argentina
Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has frowned at the 25-man squad list released by Eguavoen for the final World Cup playoffs against Ghana in two-legged encounters.
Last week, interim coach Austine Eguavoen released the names of those invited for the two-legged ties and placed seven others on standby including Taiwo Awoniyi.
So far this season, Taiwo Awoniyi is the leading Nigerian scorer in Europe as the former Liverpool striker is having 10 goals and was also part of the team that went to Cameroon for 2021 AFCON.
On the list released by Eguavoen, Leicester City forward Ademola Lookman got maiden call-up, while Emmnauel Dennis will be making a return to the Super Eagles having previously played 3 games.
According to the report on Complete Sports and Daily Post, Samson Siasia explained that the list was not a good one.
Samson Siasia's reaction about the Super Eagles list
“You need to play people that understand themselves. If you bring new ones, it becomes difficult for them to understand themselves and play the partner you want to play.
“For me, it’s not the right decision to bring new players, you are better off with the ones you know already that have been playing together and understand themselves because you have three days to practice before you go to Ghana. So, for me, this is not the right list.''

FootballNigeria will play as guests to their sworn rivals at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on March 25 before hosting the Black Stars at the Abiola Stadium in Abuja four days later.
The three-time African champions will be seeking a fourth successive appearance at the global showpiece, while Ghana will be yearning to return to the Mundial for the first time since 2014.
Ghana exited the recently held Africa Cup of Nations at the group stages, failing to win a game at the biennial tournament while Nigeria reached the round-of-16, but considering the storied history between the two nations, the two-legged tie is bound to be epic.
