The chief coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Emmanuel Amuneke has disclosed that the arrival of Ademola Lookman to the Super Eagles will improve the team, Brila FM reports.
A former England youth player Ademola Lookman recently saw his application to switch nationality from England to Nigeria approved by the world’s football governing body, FIFA.
The 24-year-old who is currently on loan at Leicester City from RB Leipzig is now eligible to play for the Super Eagles having indicated interest for some time now.
Lookman who featured for England Under-19 and Under-21 youth international was also part of the squad that won the Under-20 World Cup in 2017.
And now he is eligible to feature for Nigeria who are preparing for the crucial World Cup playoffs against Ghana in March.
Speaking on what the striker will bring to the team, Amuneke who met the player in London said, as per CKD media:
“He is a great addition to the team, a player that is ready to give his best anytime he is called upon. Playing regularly for Leicester city shows he has come of age and ready for the big occasion.
“That explains why we needed him in our fold. I am happy he has agreed to join.”
Lookman has played for the likes of Charlton Athletic, Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City where he’s currently on loan from RB Leipzig.

FootballMeanwhile, Ghana and Nigeria will battle it out for one of the slots at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year after the two countries were drawn for the final round of qualifies.
Asamoah Gyan, former captain of the Black Stars believes the game will go down the wire and Ghana will need all the support to make an appearance in Qatar.
It is unclear if the legendary forward will make a return to the Black Stars after disclosing that he is not yet done with football.

The Super Eagles' forward joined the Italian outfit from French club Lille back in September 2020 and has been a key member under Luciano Spalletti.
Osimhen has found the back of the net 21 times in 51 appearances for the Partenopei in all competitions which have attracted interest from other clubs.
