The Premier Soccer League has responded with sadness to the news of Stellenbosch FC player Oswin Andries.
Reports emerged on Saturday evening that the promising young player had been stabbed and killed in Cape Town. Details surrounding the incident remained unclear at the time of publication.
The Premier Soccer League said in a statement on Sunday:
"The PSL is shocked and saddened by the untimely passing of young Stellenbosch FC defender, Oshwin Andries. The League sends heartfelt condolences to the Andries family, Stellenbosch FC, and the football fraternity at large.

Andries was born on 24 February 2003. He made his professional debut at the age of 18 years old, recently becoming The Maroon's youngest-ever goalscorer in the DStv Premiership. Significantly, he also captained South Africa's under-20 national team.
Stellenbosch, in a statement, asked that Andries' family's privacy be respected at this difficult time, saying that it would release another statement in due course as the facts started emerging about his unfortunate passing.
