- Their immediate impact in the Premier Soccer League was even wilder
- In that time, they have entered the records books on a world scale
Since the club was controversially founded in 2020, Royal AM has never been far from the headlines.
The team, owned by socialite and businesswomen Shauwn Mkhize, have added much-needed entertainment value on the field of play in the Premier Soccer League, as well as off the pitch.
In that time, Thwihli Thwahla has since entered the world record books. IOL reported that Royal has used the second-most players on the planet in the last five years. This was according to a study conducted by the CIES Football Observatory, which researched 75 of the biggest leagues on the planet.
The Durban-based club has used a whopping 166 players in just four years, second behind Brazilian club AA Ponte Preta, with 168 players. By the study's definition, this makes Royal the 'second most unstable club on the planet'.

Rasta paints Royal AM bosses
Shauwn Mkhize and Andile Mpisane are the latest public figures to feel the brush of Rasta The Artist.
MaMkhize, the owner of Royal AM, and Mpisane, the chairman of the club, were painted by the divisive artist outside Chatsworth Stadium in Durban. This was during Thwihli Thwahla's 1-1 draw against SuperSport United in a DStv Premiership encounter on Saturday.

FootballNaturally, any work that Rasta puts out will be a source of debate, considering the wildly inconsistent quality it comes in, and whether the subjects look like it in real life.
Mpisane indulges in kasi flava
Admittedly, Andile Mpisane does know how to entertain with the ball at his feet.
A video has gone viral on Twitter of Royal AM's chairman indulging in kasi flava showboating for the club's DStv Diski Challenge team against KwaZulu-Natal rivals Lamontville Golden Arrows. The derby match would eventually end in a 1-1 draw. Mpisane has been a subject of much debate and derision throughout the season, having been an unused substitute in the senior team.
He did appear for the team in a Macufe Cup match last October against Kaizer Chiefs, which Thwihli Thwahla won on penalties.
