Shauwn Mkhize is enjoying the start of the year thanks to the youngsters at Royal AM in the DStv Diski Challenge.
The team has come out of the starting blocks cooking, defeating Kaizer Chiefs 5-4 and SuperSport United 3-1 on consecutive weekends. These valuable six points took them to ninth place on 17 points, one point above Chiefs in 10th place, who they've had the wood on this season.
The good run of form left club owner MaMkhize in a jubilant mood, praising the reserve team and challenging the seniors to keep pace.
Surrounded by the Diski Challenge team, MaMkhize said in an Instagram video:
"Three points, three goals! Guys, my boys have been doing very well! A team , this is a challenge... six points, two points, eight goals! So, the challenge is coming!" IIIIIT'S A WRAAAAAP!"
The Diski Challenge team has a tough fixture next, taking on Mamelodi Sundowns on Saturday, 22 January at 10AM. The seniors have a long wait for their next encounter however, having to wait until Tuesday, 15 February for the clash against Sekhukhune United.
Orlando Pirates extended its lead at the top of the log by six points as per a Diski Challenge tweet, moving up to 33 points thanks to a 5-1 win over Moroka Swallows.
