Mourinho is then seen picking up a microphone belonging to one of the journalists before making his way to the team bus with his players.

The Portuguese tactician is a known serial winner, and more recently won the inaugural Europa Conference League with Roma, as per Transfermkt.

On paper, he would be the perfect fit for the Portugal national team because of his strong knowledge of the Portuguese football culture along with his tendency to succeed in cup games.

Fonseca also in the running for Portugal job

It has also been reported that Paulo Fonseca, a former Roma boss, is also in the frame for the vacant Portugal job.

Fonseca is currently managing Ligue 1 side Lille, although he is experiencing mixed fortunes in France with the former league champions.

Bruno Fernandes hails Santos

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on Bruno Fernandes’ kind words towards Fernando Santos after the sacking of the Portugal boss.

Santos was dismissed after an eight-year stint as Portugal boss, and his final assignment as coach was marred with controversy.

Just hours after his departure and Fernandes openly spoke on his now former manager, and he seemed to have no ill feelings towards him.
