New AS Roma signing Georginio Wijnaldum has disclosed the role Mohamed Salah played in his move to the Serie A club.
Wijnaldum, formerly of Liverpool, joined AS Roma in the ongoing summer transfer window on a season-long loan deal from Paris Saint-Germain.
The Dutch midfielder endured a torrid time in the French capital last season and jumped at the chance of rediscovering his form when Roma came calling as Jose Mourinho seeks to build on his UEFA Europa Conference League success.
Shedding light on the events which influenced his decision to join the Giallorossi, Wijnaldum revealed Liverpool talisman, Mohamed Salah was among the main reasons he made the switch.

“I wanted to come because of the effort the club made to sign me and because I spoke to Mo Salah and Kevin Strootman about the club and the city and I only heard good stories about it,” he told reporters via Liverpool Echo during his media unveiling.
“I also spoke to Achraf Hakimi, even if he played for Inter. He said that Roma is a beautiful club. That convinced me a lot also because I knew the club.
He also acknowledged the role played by the top hierarchy of the club particularly Tiago Pinto in convincing him to join Roma.

The Dutchman's move to Roma came when he had seen his fortunes dwindle after he joined PSG from Liverpool last summer.
