As Benzema continues to bask in the glory of winning the Golden Ball, a heartwarming video of the kids at the boyhood club celebrating him winning the Ballon d’Or has surfaced online.

In the video posted on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, the young kids jubilated wildly the moment Zinedine Zidane named the former Lyon star as the winner of this year's coveted award.

How Benzema's career began

Benzema's career started at his hometown club Bron Terraillon SC at the age of eight.

While at the club, he was nicknamed Coco by friends. He caught the attention of big clubs across France following his stellar performance against Lyon's youth team, where he bagged two goals.

According to Sportskeeda, Lyon officials contacted Bron Terraillon president in the 1990s Serge Santa Cruz for the services of Benzema but he refused to sell the young prodigy.

However, after extensive talks with Benzema's father, the club allowed the player to undergo a trial with Lyon.

Following the trial, Benzema officially joined Lyon and was inserted into the club's academy
