Brazilian superstar, Neymar could be set for some troubled few months ahead as his transfer to Barcelona from Santos back in 2013 is currently being investigated for fraud.

Former Barcelona President Sandro Rosell and the Brazilian forward have been on trial in Spain over corruption and bribery on the deal and their case now lies in the hands of arch-rival in Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez.

According to Football Espana, Perez has been called as a witness to testify in the case, with his date set for the 18th of October.

Prosecutors are demanding the punishment for Neymar if he is found guilty should be 2 years in jail and a €10m fine too while Sandro Rosell faces up to 5 years in prison and a €10m fine.

As part of Barcelona's attacking trio with Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez, dubbed MSN, Neymar won the continental treble of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the UEFA Champions League. He then attained a domestic double in the 2015–16 season.

Neymar addresses Kylian Mbappe conflict

Meanwhile, Neymar has given the impression that he and Kylian Mbappe are still on good terms despite rumors to the contrary.

The Brazilian forward who spoke after PSG’s Super Cup win over Nantes on Sunday, July 31, disclosed that he is fine with the French forward Daily Mirror reports.

Neymar is still under contract with PSG until the summer of 2027 and it appears that he will be playing alongside Mbappe and Messi at the club for the foreseeable future.

Neymar to go on trial in Spain just before World Cup

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Neymar is due to face trial in Spain in October just a month before the World Cup over alleged irregularities in his transfer to Barcelona nearly a decade ago.

The Brazilian international, his parents and former Barcelona presidents Sandro Rosell and Josep Maria Bartomeu will be tried for alleged corruption related to the forward's move from Santos to Barcelona in 2013.

Rosell and Bartomeu will also face fraud charges in the trial which is scheduled to take place from October 17 to 31, a month before the World Cup gets under way in Qatar.
