New details have emerged of how Real Madrid's new signing Aurelien Tchouameni turned down a huge salary of 12 million euros per season from Paris Saint Germain.
Tchouameni was on the radar of top European clubs after impressive seasons at AS Monaco. Liverpool, Chelsea, PSG, and Real Madrid were all said to be interested in the midfielder.
Real Madrid eventually won the race to sign the 22-year-old on a six-year deal. It is rumoured that the midfielder will pocket around six to seven million euros per season, which is way lower than what he was being offered at PSG.
Marca reports that Tchouameni wasn't really a boyhood Real Madrid fan but chose Real Madrid to try out a new challenge. The midfielder will be part of an exciting Real Madrid midfield of Eduardo Camavinga and Federico Valverde. They will be understudies of the experienced Casemiro, Toni Kroos and Luka Modric, who are now getting into the twilight of their careers.
Aurelien Tchouameni discloses that Kylian Mbappe tried to convince him to join PSG
Sports Brief had earlier reported that New Real Madrid signing Aurelien Tchouameni has disclosed how Kylian Mbappe urged him to join French club Paris Saint-Germain. The 22-year-old completed his switch from French side Monaco to Real Madrid, signing a six-year contract with Los Blancos, taking him until the summer of 2028.
Tchouameni expressed delight following his move to the Santiago Bernabeu and thanked the club’s president, as well as his agent and family members, for making such a mega transfer a reality.
During his unveiling at the Spanish capital, Tchoumani stated that his fellow compatriot Mbappe wanted him to join PSG, but he told the striker he was interested in Madrid.
