Karim Benzema is the man of the hour at the moment as the Real Madrid striker kept the Los Blancos’ chase for another Champions League final alive after bagging a brace against Manchester City.

The French striker scored in both halves against the Citizens at the Etihad Stadium to take his tally in this season’s competition to 14 goals.

According to a report via LiveSoccertv, Benzema has scored more goals in the semi-finals of the Champions League than Messi after netting his 7th against Manchester City.

The 34-year-old now ranks higher than Messi who has 6 goals at this stage of the competition but remains behind Manchester United forward, Cristiano Ronaldo who has 13 goals.

Karim Benzema will mostly likely extend his record against Messi when the second-leg fixture is played at the Santiago Bernabeu on May 4 going by his present form for the Los Blancos.

Karim Benzema is regarded as the hottest striker right now in World Football after his brace against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

The 34-year-old striker has for the first time in his professional career reached the 40-goal mark after he scored his 41st goal against City.

The Real Madrid striker also set the record as the first player in Champions League history to score as many as five goals away from home in the knockout stages against clubs from a single nation in a season.
