Kylian Mbappé’s substitution against FC Lorient has raised serious alarm bells.

The Frenchman was taken off during Paris Saint-Germain’s victory over Lorient, leaving French fans sick with worry.

With the World Cup just two weeks away, fans are concerned that the PSG attacker could miss the global showpiece. Lionel Messi was also left out of the game over an injury concern of his own.

Marca reported that Mbappé was taking off after feeling discomfort in his left adductor in the 85th minute of the game. He was treated on the bench before being accompanied to the dressing room by several doctors.

The sight of the star player being treated by medical personnel naturally was a worry for many.

Galtier downplays any fears

Coach Christophe Galtier has reassured fans after the match that the injury was not serious, Goal reported.

"It's nothing serious. He made a great effort, he was tired, and it is much better to go out without taking any risks," he said.

Mbappé failed to fire during the game, but thankfully for PSG, Neymar and Danilo Pereira grabbed the goals as the Parisian side secured a 2-1 win.

It’s understood that Messi has an inflamed Achilles tendon which he suffered after the Champions League win against Juventus in midweek.
