- The incident occurred when Neymar was on the stairs to collect his losers medal, after PSG’s surprise loss in the final of the Coupe de France to Rennes
- The French Football Federation had also given Neymar a three-match ban following the incident which occurred in April 2019
Neymar can’t seem to get away from trouble recently. The Brazilian superstar has been sued again for slapping an opposition fan, after a Paris Saint-Germain game in 2019.
The incident occurred in the aftermath of PSG’s surprise loss in the final of the Coupe de France to Rennes in April 2019, with Neymar hitting a Rennes fan while going to collect his losers medal.
According to GFFN, the Rennes supporter has filed a legal complaint against the Brazilian, after a Mediapart investigation revealed he was one of the targets of the club’s alleged hostile social media campaigns.
The fan was subjected to abuse on social media after his identity was revealed. Mediapart claimed that PSG used an external agency to lead campaigns against him.

Neymar had initially been banned for 3 matches by the French Football Federation but that seems to not have satisfied the aggrieved fan, who is now seeking redress in court.
Neymar slams Ballon d’Or voting
Meanwhile, Neymar has taken to social media to slam the Ballon d'Or voting process. He questioned why fellow Brazil teammate Vinicius Junior finished outside the top 3 for the award.
According to PSG Talks, Neymar refuted the results which placed Vinicius Junior in 8th, despite having a stellar season with Real Madrid where he won the Champions League.
Karim Benzema was named the best player in the world as he won the Ballon d’Or for the first time, while Bayern Munich forward Sadio Mane and Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne finished 2nd and 3rd respectively.
