- Africa is known for its wildlife and famous tourist attractions, with the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania and Silverback gorillas in Rwanda major attractions
- Ander Herrera, Ibrahima Konate, Sergio Ramos and Keylor Navas are some of the players spotted in East Africa
East Africa has proven to be a popular destination for European football stars. Professional footballers are currently on holiday and some have chosen to come and unwind in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda and its environs.
Sports Brief has compiled some of the stars that have visited East Africa during this off-season.
Former Manchester United star and currently with Paris Saint Germain, Ander Herrera was in Zanzibar and Tanzania between 8th and 11th June, as posted on his social media handles.
Herrera visited the Ngorongoro crater and the Zanzibari island. Ngorongoro crater is the world's largest inactive, intact and unfilled volcanic caldera. The crater was formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago and it is 610 metres according to Wikipedia.
His Paris Saint-Germain counterparts Sergio Ramos, Julian Draxler, Keylor Navas and Thilo Kehrer visited Rwanda on 4th May. PSG is part of the Visit Rwanda campaign. The New Times Rwanda reports that they visited Akagera and Volcanoes national parks.
Veteran defender Ramos promised to make a point of coming back in the future.
We are delighted to have visited Rwanda which is a beautiful country. We got the opportunity to meet the majestic gorillas, and also visited other places. Hopefully, we will come back again.
Liverpool's defender Ibrahima Konate was also spotted posing for a photo with the locals in Zanzibar.

FootballMauro Icardi visits the Giraffe Manor in Kenya
Sports Brief had also reported that Paris Saint-Germain striker Mauro Icardi was in Kenya. Icardi is currently enjoying his off-season holiday after winning the French Ligue 1 this season.
In an Instagram post spotted by Sports Brief, Icardi has been accompanied to Kenya’s capital, Nairobi, by his ravishing partner, Wanda Narra. The duo visited the Giraffe Manor in Nairobi.
Last year, they were pictured at the famous Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. And prior to coming to Kenya, they were in Rwanda where they visited the Silverback gorillas.
