- Perez who was celebrating Real Madrid’s Champions League win stated that Kylian Mbappe is now forgotten
The president of Spanish club Real Madrid Florentino Perez has stated that any topic relating to Kylian Mbappe’s transfer has been forgotten following their Champions League final win over Liverpool.
Vinicius Junior scored the lone goal that handed Los Blancos their fourteenth Champions League title to ensure Real ended the season on a spectacular note.
The victory came less than a week that Manchester City edged Jurgen Klopp’s men to the English Premier League title dashing any hopes of a quadruple for the Reds.
Real Madrid finished the season securing their 35th La Liga title and they had been on the trail of Paris Saint-Germain striker Kylian Mbappe, Mirror reports.
After more than a year of being linked with the club, with rumours that he already agreed to personal terms with Real Madrid, Mbappe stunned the La Liga giants when he announced a contract extension with the Parisians.
The striker had also hinted he would be moving away from Paris to the Spanish capital, however, such a transfer could not materialise.
While celebrating the club’s fourteenth Champions League title, Florentino Perez stated that Real Madrid will keep on signing the best of players but that there is no longer chance for Mbappe.
Perez explained to Spanish TV station Movistar after the match:
"Real Madrid will always keep working on having the best players. But Mbappe is forgotten now. It's fine. Madrid had a perfect season. It's a subject that's forgotten."
The Madrid boss has now overseen six of Real Madrid's 14 European Cup wins as president - in 2002, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and now 2022.
