"The Premier Soccer League (PSL) will observe a moment of silence in honour of the late football legend, John Moeti. “Dungi” as he was affectionately known, was an integral part of the Orlando Pirates team that won the 1995 CAF Champions League as well as the triumphant 1996 African Cup of Nations Bafana Bafana squad.
"The moment of silence will be observed at all Nedbank Cup and DStv Diski Challenge fixtures this week (inclusive of the weekend fixtures). The PSL sends heartfelt condolences to the Moeti family, and the football community at large. May his soul repose peacefully."

PSL reacts to Andries' murder

The South African football fraternity has been plunged into mourning in the most devastating manner possible. Promising Stellenbosch FC player Oswin Andries was stabbed and killed in Cape Town last week.

The Premier Soccer League released a statement reacting to the tragic news, stating that Andries would be honoured with a minute of silence in matches sanctioned by the body.

PSL holds moments of silence for Pele

There was a significant event before the Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates match in December.

The DStv Premiership match saw a moment of silence in honour of the late footballer Pele.

The Premier Soccer League had revealed that all matches that weekend would show respect to arguably the Beautiful Game's greatest-ever player.
