FootballMandla Ncikazi to Remain With Orlando Pirates After Fadlu Davids' Departure
- Orlando Pirates interim coach Mandla Ncikazi will stay put at the club until further notice according to a report
- Ncikazi joined the club last in August after Josef Zinnbauer called it quits, with Fadlu Davids joining him as a temporary co-coach
- After an uninspiring season that yielded no silverware, Davids and Pirates parted ways, with Ncikazi tipped to follow him out amid rumours of possible replacements
It has been reported that interim Orlando Pirates coach Mandla Ncikazi is staying put at the club.
This is despite rumours swirling of an array of possible candidates being looked at to replace him and former co-coach Fadlu Davids.
According to the Daily Sun, a source told the publication:
"Ncikazi is not leaving Pirates. Davids was obviously going to leave the club at the end of the season. But it is not clear whether Ncikazi will run alone season or if he will be the assistant coach."
Earlier this month, the club parted ways with Fadlu Davids, as was reported by Sport24. Davids joined the club in January 2019 as an assistant to Milutin Sredojevic and took on the co-head coaching role with Ncikazi, who joined from Golden Arrows after Josef Zinnbauer's departure last August.
The Buccaneers have been linked with a variety of individuals to take the head coach position ahead of next season. They include Benni McCarthy, Pitso Mosimane, Dan Malesela, Cavin Johnson and Gavin Hunt.
Soccer Laduma also reported that Spaniard Pablo Franco Martin, the former Simba SC coach, is among the names that could be on the shortlist.
Bucs legend Daine Klate sparks wildfire of rumours that Benni McCarthy will be the next Orlando Pirates coach
Daine Klate has added more weight to the rumours that Benni McCarthy could be the next Orlando Pirates.
As reported by Sports Brief, last season, Mandla Ncikazi and Fadlu Davids manned the helm at the Buccaneers in an interim capacity.
This was not a particularly successful stint, with Pirates failing to win a single trophy while also failing to qualify for any African competitions, which compromised the duo's already shaky standing in terms of employment.
