Gianpaolo Tartaro, the surgeon who operated on Nigerian international, Victor Osimhen, has revealed the footballer almost lost his eyes after suffering a horrific facial injury.
In November 2021, the football world learned that the formidable Napoli striker was hurt in a clashing of heads against Inter Milan.
Inter's Milan Škriniar tried to gain the ball from Osimhen in the air but in the process, the Slovakian ended up injuring the Super Eagles player.
Osimhen was rushed to the hospital where he underwent emergency surgery, after doctors determined he had suffered multiple fractures to his cheekbone and orbital bone.

Osimhen spent months on sidelines
The injury prevented the Nigerian star from featuring for Napoli for two solid months after the operation and when he returned, he has worn a protective mask since.
According to the report by Punch, Tartaro explained the injury was so severe, Osimhen could have suffered tragic and permanent damage.
Surgeon reveals extent of injury
“The orbital bone stopped just in time because Osimhen could even have lost his sight," Tartaro explained.
“That bone could indeed have caused other problems, but fortunately some factors helped us and the eye was able to go back into its socket.''
Petit wants Osimhen at Chelsea
Sports Brief also reported on Emmanuel Petit urging Chelsea to sign Osimhen in the summer, calling on the Blues bosses to make every effort to lure him to Stamford Bridge.
