- Mourinho revealed his admiration for the Napoli defender whom he tried to sign while in North London
- The centre-back's profile has risen immensely after joining from Fenerbahce
Jose Mourinho has indirectly mocked his former club Tottenham Hotspur by praising Napoli centre-back Kim-Min Jae.
Mourinho has revealed that he wanted to sign the defender while he was Spurs boss but the club could not raise the necessary funds to buy him.
The South Korean was at that time plying his trade with Turkish giants Fenerbahce. Speaking ahead of his side's high-stakes clash against Napoli on January 29th, Mourinho disclosed his admiration of the 26-year-old.
"I wanted to sign Kim Min-Jae when I was at Tottenham. I had some FaceTime calls with him — our bid was €5m, Fenerbahçe wanted €10m for Kim and for Tottenham that wasn’t possible at that point. Now look at Kim and his level, he’s a top player," as quoted by Fabrizio Romano.

Kim was later snapped up by Napoli last summer as a replacement for the departed Kalidou Koulibaly. He has since settled in well in Naples as Lucian Spaletti angles to win the Scudetto.
Tottenham meanwhile have struggled defensively this season despite being coached by Antonio Conte. Captain Hugo Lloris has on a number of occasions been on the receiving end of criticism after suspect goalkeeping. Spurs have conceded 31 goals in 21 Premier League games this season.
Roma play Napoli at the Diego Maradona Stadium on Sunday with 13 points separating the two sides. A late Victor Osimhen strike was the difference when the two sides met in October.
Kim Kardashian spotted in Roma jersey
Sports Brief has also reported that famous American socialite Kim Kardashian has created a buzz in the football world after she was spotted donning an AS Roma kit.
The model was seen along the streets of Los Angeles wearing the oversized jersey with biker shorts.
The kit was used by the Giallarosi during the 1997-1998 season. It is the same jersey worn by legends such as Cafu, Francesco Totti and Abel Balbo as Football Italia reports. Zdenek Zeman was the Head Coach then.
