Kalidou Koulibaly is interested in securing a move away from Napoli this summer. The defender has been at Napoli since 2014 and only has one year remaining in his contract.
It is understood that the Senegal captain prefers a move to Barcelona but other top European clubs are also set to bis for his signature.
Barcelona are yet to make a move for Koulibaly. Xavi Hernandez is understood to prefer Sevilla’s Jules Kounde, but his hefty price tag will turn Barcelona away.
The Daily Mail now reports that Napoli wants Miralem Pjanic to be included in the deal. Pjanic has been out of favour since joining Barcelona from Juventus.
Napoli’s President Aurelio De Laurentiis recently said that they won’t force Koulibaly to stay.
Koulibaly is a symbol of Napoli and if he wants to be no longer a symbol, he must decide. We must decide. We want him to stay, but people can’t be forced to stay. Everyone has their own dignity and needs. We respect everyone.
The 30-year-old is reportedly worth 30 million euros. Other clubs like Juventus and Chelsea are also interested in signing him and monitoring his situation.
Juventus are in the market looking for Giorgio Chiellini’s replacement. The veteran defender will leave The Old Lady and is headed for the Major Soccer League in the United States of America.
Chelsea, on the other hand, are in dire need of defenders. Thomas Tuchel is likely to lose four defenders this summer. Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen will be leaving on free transfers, while Cesar Azpilicueta’s and Marcos Alonso’s futures are yet to be decided.
