Victor Osimhen was the hero for Napoli as the Super Eagles striker singlehandedly rescued a point for Luciano Spaletti’s side against Cagliari on Monday, February 21.
The Super Eagles striker came off the bench to score his seventh league goal of the season in the 87th minute to level against relegation-threatened Cagliari side who took a surprise lead early in the second half.
According to a report via Complete Sports, a goalkeeping blunder by David Ospina gifted Cagliari the lead after Pereiro hit a speculative long shot which the Napoli goalkeeper allowed to slip through his hands.
Napoli would, however, push for an equalizer and they were rewarded very late on as Nigeria striker, Victor Osimhen powered in a header as both teams settled for a draw.
Napoli squander chance to go top of Serie A
Meanwhile, Napoli missed a great opportunity to go top of the Italian Serie A table after dropping points away to Cagliari on Monday, February 21.
According to CBS Sports, AC Milan's draw against Salernitana and Inter Milan's defeat against Sassuolo over the weekend meant Napoli had the chance to become Serie A leaders if they had won against Cagliari.
The draw means Napoli remains in third place on 54 points and tied on same points with AC Milan but still two points behind leaders Inter Milan after 26 games played so far.
