Dylan Kerr’s miracle of saving Swallows FC from relegation has earned him a permanent contract.
Kerr was brought in by Swallows on a six-month contract, with his contract expiring at the end of June.
He admitted recently that he was unsure about his job at the Soweto-based club and sparked rumours that he was leaving the country for good with a recent Twitter post.
Many believed that it was Kerr's way of saying goodbye to the club and country.
The South African has now reported that Kerr has been given assurances that he will remain in charge next season.
“The chairman, David Thidiela, spoke to me last week and said ‘look, forget about all the rumours about Gavin Hunt, Ernst Middendorp and Cavin Johnson coming to Swallows. You are going to be the coach here next season’,” Kerr said.
Kerr also expressed his love for Swallows and ambitions of growing the club but admitted that the club will have to avoid making the same mistakes as the last season.
“Let’s go forward and learn from our mistakes. Every football club has its flaws, every football club does things that you are not supposed to do. We learn from it and we grow from it,” he added.

Swallows beat the University of Pretoria 1-0 to win the relegation/promotion playoff and secure their spot in the DStv Premiership next season.
Kerr was appointed as coach of the Soweto-based side after Brandon Truter was fired and given six months to help the club avoid relegation, which he did. His contract is set to expire at the end of June but he has yet to receive any reassurances of a new deal.
