  • AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has reiterated that he is not ready to quit his football career just yet
  • Ibrahimovic suffered a serious injury earlier in the summer that will see him be out until at least January next year
  • Given his age and all his accomplishments, many thought that he would retire but he says he is not yet done

Veteran striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic refuses to call it quits on his career despite suffering a long-term injury.

Ibrahimovic tore his anterior cruciate ligaments and underwent surgery in May. Normally, ACL injuries take the longest time to heal.

It does not help that Ibrahimovic is now 41 years old and the recovery could be potentially slower than in other players. AC Milan handed him a one-year contract extension as he nursed his serious injury.

There were calls for the Swede striker to hang up his boots. He has refused to heed to those calls promising to be back in action soon as possible as BeIN Sports reports.

I will be back soon. I'm not going to retire, I'm coming back and I won't give up.

The widely travelled striker played a huge part in AC Milan's run to the Scudetto title last season by chipping in with eight goals and two assists. He had initially planned to make an appearance at the World Cup, but his return date has been set for January.

The Rossoneri brought former Liverpool striker Divock Origi as a replacement. Milan are currently third on the log with 14 points. They face a tricky Champions League group, having drawn their first game against Austrian champions RB Salzburg.

They also have a date with former European champions Chelsea and Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb.

Ibrahimovic believes he still has a score o settle with Romelu Lukaku

Sports Brief has previously reported that AC Milan's striker Zlatan Ibrahimović had sent a clear warning to Romelu Lukaku, telling the Inter Milan striker that their tiff is far from over.

Ibrahimovic and Lukaku clashed in a Coppa Italia match in the 2020/2021 season that was marked by subtle headbutts and insults. Both were booked for the roles in the scuffle, but Ibrahimovic was later on sent off for a second yellow card.

The Swedish striker has given his account of how things transpired in his new hard-hitting book, Adrenaline. The 40-year-old admits that he made reference to an old rumour that Lukaku's mother used voodoo on him to convince him to leave Everton in 2017 and join Manchester United.
