FootballSassuolo 0:0 Milan: Stefano Pioli Fiercely Criticizes Serie a Champions After Drab Draw
- AC Milan were held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Sassuolo on Tuesday, August 30
- Sassuolo were happy to sit deep and see out pressure from the Rossoneri
- Stefano Pioli accused his side of lacking lucidity for large parts of the game
AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli was thoroughly critical of his side after a 0-0 stalemate against Sassuolo in the Italian Serie A.
The Rossoneri only managed to collect a point at the Mapei Stadium, the same place where they won the Scudetto just three months earlier.
Sassuolo should be credited for the resolute manner in which they went at defending against the champions.

They were however also unlucky as they had the chance to win it, but Domenico Berardi’s penalty was expertly saved.
Speaking after the game, Pioli was a visibly frustrated figure as he criticized his side for not going for the win.
“I would have preferred to concede a goal and win the game. We started very well, we played good football, fast and with good situations, not finding the positive pass. Then we got confused, leaving some counters. In the second half we lost lucidity, playing in a hurried way and failing to win a game that could be won,” He said as translated by sempremilan.com.
“We are the ones who force the opponents to play deeper. Today we went with too many players all in behind, so we lacked players between the lines, quick exchanges,”
Milan will be in action once again in the Serie A on Saturday in a highly anticipated derby della Madonnina against Inter.
Ahead of the game, Pioli hinted that he would go with his strongest side and would avoid a rotation as he had done on Tuesday.

Inter climb to second in the Serie A
In the other game, Inter Milan climbed to second on the Serie A standings following their 3-1 comfortable win over Cremonese on Tuesday night, August 30, at San Siro.
Inter were desperate to bounce back to winning ways when they hosted Cremonese, having suffered a 3-1 heavy loss against Lazio in their last outing.
Joaquin Correa, Nicolo Barella, and Lautaro Martinez were all on target for Inter, with David Okereke scoring Cremonese's consolation
