FootballTension at Old Trafford as Ronaldo and Maguire Reportedly Involved in power tussle
- Ex-Manchester United captain Gary Neville recently hinted at a leadership struggle between Ronaldo and Maguire
- Ronaldo rejoined Manchester United from Juventus last summer and has established himself as a key member of the squad
- Man United were held to a 1-1 draw by Newcastle on Monday night and are six points off the top 4
Former Manchester United captain, Gary Neville has hinted at a power tussle involving two of United’s senior players Cristiano Ronaldo and Harry Maguire.
Neville made this known after watching the Red Devils drop further from the title race in a lacklustre draw at St. James’ Park against Newcastle United.
Edinson Cavani had rescued a point for Ralph Ragnick’s team after an early goal by Saint Maximin had given the Magpies the lead early on in the game.
Following the draw, Manchester United are now six points adrift of the top 4 position in the league and Gary Neville believes the team is not in harmony as reported by Manchester Evening News.
"I think there's a bit of a leadership struggle at the moment. I think Maguire looks like he's the captain but it doesn't feel like the captain.
"I think Cristiano has come in and maybe upset Bruno [Fernandes] in terms of that hierarchy in the team. You've got Cavani who comes off the bench, who is a senior player and obviously a fantastic player as well.
"It doesn’t feel like the mix of what’s going on is right.
"Ralf Rangnick's only been here two and a half weeks so he's not been able to sort it out."
The Sun had reported of club captain Harry Maguire who is said to have been more reserved since Ronaldo returned in the summer and the leadership lines have reportedly become blurred with the iconic Portuguese on the scene.
