Messi was handed a seventh Ballon d'Or title on Monday night, November 29, but fans have blasted France Football for ignoring Robert Lewandowski.

And a five-time recipient of the same award, Ronaldo, who garnered 435 votes to finish sixth has commented ‘facts’ underneath a post detailing why the Manchester United star should have won it.

What was the post about?

Daily Mail are reporting that a Facebook account called 'Cristiano Ronaldo - The Legendary' describes Messi's accolade as 'Theft. Dirt. Shame. Simply regrettable.'

The account added via Mirror:

“43 goals in the year, 6 goals in 5 games in this Champions League, all decisive and a guy who, regardless of age, continues to work miracles and is the guy who most impresses the world most often," the account said in reference to Ronaldo.
“They still put the guy in 6th… Do you really think that 5 guys did more than him in the year? Never," the account concluded.

Messi's triumph in Paris on Monday has been criticised in many quarters, with Jurgen Klopp, Toni Kroos and Iker Casillas all surprised by the decision.

Ramos backed Messi for Ballon d'Or

TUKO.co.ke earlier reported that despite their years of rivalry, Sergio Ramos backed Lionel Messi to win the 2021 Ballon d'Or award.

The two players linked up together at Paris Saint-Germain in the summer on free transfers. For years, the duo has never seen eye-to-eye in the world of football as they both turned out for rival clubs in the La Liga.

However, Ramos switched allegiance to the Argentine, revealing that he hopes he wins this year's edition of the Ballon d'Or.
