Ralf Rangnick has been handed a massive boost after Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Man United training after their Carrington Complex was reopened.

United are among a number of Premier League clubs hit by coronavirus cases in recent days, with a section of players and staff returning positive tests.

With the situation dire, the Red Devils were left with no choice but to shut their training base.

However, SunSport reports the majority of squad players have since returned as they were spotted driving in as Rangnick put them through their paces.

Ronaldo, who previously missed United's sessions was among those seen back in training, with Marcus Rashford divulging a good number of his teammates are back.

"The lads have been training and today we brought all the rest of the lads back to training, there are only a couple left that will be coming in tomorrow," Rashford told United's website.

“So, we’ve pretty much got the full squad back, which is a positive going into the week," the forward added.

Rashford's positive update comes just days ahead of United's trip to St. James Park to take on Newcastle on Monday, December 27.

The Red Devils are currently placed sixth on the EPL standings with 27 points, five off the top four.
