As a youngster, the forward was labeled selfish, as he wanted to score many goals but Nistelrooy was vehemently against it.

The Dutchman most times waited on other players to serve him balls before converting them to goals and he was not getting that from the newly acquired youngster.

Ruud had that kind of ego: he wanted all the passes,” Saha told FourFourTwo.
And sometimes, for the development of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney, it was difficult for the manager to deal with..Did Ruud make Ronaldo cry? Yeah, there were stories because I think they ended up in an argument at the moment when Cristiano’s father had passed away, so it wasn’t the right moment.

The Dutchman spent five seasons at the Theater of Dreams - scoring 95 goals in 150 appearances for the Premier League club.

But Saha further revealed his former teammate would regret some of his actions towards younger players while at Old Trafford.

"Things like that happen when two players have lots of spirit, but I’m sure Ruud regrets some of his words. Cristiano was just an animal. I don’t know if you can say that he was a human! You could see from when he was 18 or 19 that this guy was not normal.

"These players who have all the ability recognise that it’s also about working harder than anyone – not just talent.

"The top seeds in tennis don’t hit the ball better or have better technique; no, they work harder than anyone, and Cristiano did that.”

Years later and Cristiano Ronaldo is a legend of the game and he reminded everyone that after he scored a hat-trick in Portugal's 6-0 win over Lithuania in Euro 2020 qualifier.

The victory moved the defending champions one step closer to sealing their qualification to next summer's events

Ronaldo changed the score-sheet with a cool penalty in the seventh minute before doubling the lead with a long-range strike that sent the stadium into a frenzy.
