  • Ralf Rangnick managed Manchester United for half a season before Erik Ten Hag took over
  • The German was to continue in a consultancy role but quit to take up Austria's national team job
  • He sent back regards to the Dutch boss over his work on loan player Marcel Sabitzer

Erik Ten Hag is the man in charge at Manchester United and wasted no time in bringing out positive changes at the club, most notably ending the trophy drought by winning the Carabao Cup last month.

Many players have rediscovered themselves under the Dutch manager, especially star man Marcus Rashford, who has been in hot goalscoring form for the Red Devils this season.

United recruited the services of Bayern Munich midfielder Marcel Sabitzer on loan until the end of the season after a bad injury to Christian Eriksen, and the Austrian has slotted in seamlessly.

Rangnick praises Ten Hag

Marcel Sabitzer scored twice and assisted another in Austria's 4-1 win over Belarus. He is managed by former United boss Ralf Rangnick, who turned down a consultancy role to take over the Eastern European country's national team, as reported by Mirror UK.

The former RB Leipzig boss highlighted the key area Ten Hag has made a difference on the midfielder from when he was at Bayern Munich.

“He [Sabitzer] has a lot more confidence than when he was at Bayern. Nobody dropped out in this game, but of course you can say that ‘Sabi’ was the difference player after scoring two goals and preparing one,” he told Laola1

Sabitzer has reiterated his desire to remain in England beyond the end of the season, but that could change with the departure of Julian Nagelsmann at Munich and the appointment of former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel.

Southgate praises Saka's improvement

Sports Brief reported that England boss Gareth Southgate praised Saka's improvement after his man of the match performance against Ukraine.

The Arsenal star has improved his attacking output and surpassed his previous season numbers with ten games left to go on the season.

The adulation by the England boss is a testament to the job done by head coach Mikel Arteta on the Arsenal academy graduate.
