FootballMarcus Rashford: Fans Blast Manchester United Star for Blatant Dive in Southampton Stalemate
- Marcus Rashford has been accused of trying to cheat match officials to get a penalty
- Rashford went down after minimal to no contact from Southampton's Gavin Bazunu
- It was a frustrating afternoon for Erik ten Hag's men as they dropped points yet again
Marcus Rashford has been the go-to person for Erik ten Hag and Manchester United fans this year. The forward came back from the World Cup break in Qatar in sizzling-hot form, and he hasn't put a foot wrong since.
So good has his form been that rival fans have acknowledged as much but on March 12, the England international found himself on the wrong end after he was called out for cheating to win a penalty.
As expected, he was part of ten Hag's starting eleven at Old Trafford when bottom-placed club Southampton came visiting. United were desperate to get back to winning ways after the 7-0 walloping they got last week at the hands of Liverpool.
After a nervy start, the Red Devils' task became harder when Casemiro was sent off after a bad tackle on Carlos Alcaraz.

The Saints threatened the home team's goals incessantly. United, despite being a man less, also put in the work and could have easily won the game as well.
Rashford goes down after 'challenge'
United resorted to blistering counter-attacks to beat the resilient, low block of Ruben Selles.
In one instance, a ball was sent upfield for Rashford to chase. Southampton's goalkeeper, Gavin Bazunu made the decision to come out to thwart the forward's effort.
The 25-year-old seemingly collided with Bazunu and went tumbling on the turf, asking for a penalty. However, replays show there was no contact between the two players and Rashford had actually tripped himself.

"Marcus Rashford with a miserably blatant dive. That's very, very poor from the Man United attacker. Incredible that he's gotten away without a booking."
Unluckily for Rashford, his appeals were waved away as the Red Devils dropped points for the second successive game.
Casemiro showed red card

Centre referee, Anthony Taylor upgraded his initial decision to award a yellow card to a red card upon a review from the Video Assistant Referee.
The visibly distraught Brazilian trudged off the pitch amid consolation from his teammates and he once again was given his marching orders.
