English Premier League club Manchester United have reportedly agreed to sign Vincent Aboubakar on loan from Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr.

The Red Devils are desperately in search of another striker after terminating Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract at the end of last month.

Aboubakar, who scored one of the iconic goals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, has already spent 18 months with Al-Nassr, scoring 13 goals in 39 matches in all competitions.

It was gathered that the Pro League club have already exceeded the limit for non-Saudi Arabian players in their first-team squad.

After completing the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, Al-Nassr need to allow one of the foreign players to leave before they could register the Portuguese legend.

Aboubakar's potential temporary switch to Old Trafford would not only strengthen Erik ten Hag's options in attack, but would also allow Ronaldo to be officially registered by Al-Nassr.

Aboubakar visits former club FC Porto

Meanwhile, Cameroon forward Vincent Aboubakar paid a visit to former club FC Porto, following his World Cup heroics with the Indomitable Lions.

The 30-year-old spent six years with the Portuguese giants where he became a cult hero, but left in 2020 to join Besiktas on a permanent deal.

Despite his heroics, Cameroon failed to progress beyond the group stage, and following the Indomitable Lions' elimination, the lanky forward returned to Portugal to visit his former club.

Ronaldo says Saudi Arabian league is competitive

Sports Brief earlier reported that Cristiano Ronaldo made a bold statement about the Saudi Arabia Professional League, after completing his move to Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo touched down in the gulf country in the wee hours of Monday, January 2, before completing his mandatory medicals.

Despite shocking many with his unexpected switch to Asia, Ronaldo reckons the Saudi top flight is as competitive as any elite league in Europe.
