Ibrahimovic met with Rooney at the Globe Soccer Awards and the Swede striker asked if he was still looking sharp. Many took this as a jab at Ronaldo's comments.

The AC Milan striker, despite being older than Ronaldo and Rooney, is still playing. He is currently out with an ACL injury.

In the past, he also questioned why Ronaldo used to get a lot of plaudits during his first stint at Manchester United, yet it was Rooney who always did 'all the work.'

"Whoever played with Wayne Rooney, he has to be happy because he made them better. When he played with Cristiano Ronaldo, all the work was done by Rooney but Ronaldo got the praise for the goals," he said as quoted by Sport Bible.

Mourinho agrees with Ronaldo

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Ronaldo went after the young crop of players, calling them out for lack of attitude and concern about their careers.

The striker mentioned that players have refused to heed his advice, warning they wouldn't have long careers if they kept up the same attitude.

He did not mention specific players, but Jose Mourinho made similar comments in 2018 when he was Manchester United boss, as he questioned players' attitudes.
