Sweden attacker of Cameroonian descent, Anthony Elanga could not hide his joy after notching his maiden goal for the European country during the UEFA Nations League tie against Norway.

The 20-year-old attacker established himself as a first-team star with Manchester United last season, mustering 27 appearances across all competitions and recording three goals.

Despite being eligible to play for five-time African champions, Cameroon, Elanga opted to represent Sweden at the international level, where he has been able to garner three caps under his belt since earning his debut call-up in March.

In a post on Twitter, sighted by Sports Brief, Elanga expressed his elation while praising God after he opened his goalscoring account for Sweden.

Elanga, who was a second-half substitute for the 1958 FIFA World Cup finalists, grabbed a consolation goal for Sweden in their 2-1 loss to Norway at the Friends Arena in Solna.

He would hope to get more playing time under coach Janne Andersson ahead of their subsequent games in the Nations League.

The 20-year-old forward exchanged a quick give-and-go with Spurs winger Dejan Kulusevski before curling a beautiful effort which nestled in the bottom right corner of the pole.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Swedish-born Cameroon winger, Anthony Elanga, has earned his debut call-up to the senior Sweden national team, according to Manchester United's official website.

The Manchester United youngster has thrived under Ralf Rangnick in the 2021/22 campaign and has been rewarded by a call-up to Janne Andersson's side.

This will come as a big blow to Cameroon, as the 19-year-old also had the option of representing the Indomitable Lions or England but has chosen the country of his birth.
