FootballPatrice Evra sends urgent message to Manchester United amid impending arrival of Erik Ten Hag
- Patrice Evra strongly believes United can still fight for the top four, despite a recent run of poor results
- United are six points behind Arsenal in fourth place with only a handful of games remaining this season
- Evra won five Premier League titles and a Champions League during his time at Manchester United
Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has urged his former club to concentrate on the “here and now” despite the announcement of Erik Ten Hag as the next manager.
Ten Hag, 52, will take over from Ralf Rangnick from next season, leaving Ajax after a successful spell with the Dutch giants,
United are currently enduring another torrid season where they will win no silverware and with nothing to fight for, Evra believes his former team can manage a strong finish.
In fact, Evra, who won five Premier League titles under Sir Alex Ferguson, still believes United can manage a top-four finish and that ‘destiny is in their own hands’.
"Dear United fans, people keep asking me the question, 'what do I think of Ten Hag?' My answer is really simple," Evra said in a video he shared on Twitter.
"Ten Hag is not the present, he is the really near future. That's why I want you to focus on the present, even if the present doesn't look that good”
"We have still got four games left for the Champions League spots. I know most of you don't believe in our team, but me, I believe. I believe in our team, I believe in this badge and I believe that history never dies. Everything can happen in football, so the players, I want you to prove that I am not the only crazy person to belief in your guys. We can do it.

Rangnick on top four finish
Despite Evra’s optimism, Ralf Rangnick was the first to admit that United’s chance to finish in the top four was gone.
In a recent interview, the interim boss said United needed a “open heart operation” instead of a “minor cosmetic surgery”
"Now it's only about how you can solve them (problems). Not minor cosmetic things. This is an open heart operation. If everyone realises this has to happen and works together, it doesn't need to take years.” He added.
