- He becomes the first-ever player to score 100 league goals in both the La Liga and Premier League
Cristiano Ronaldo achieved yet another feat with his goal for Manchester United in the thrilling Premier League clash against Arsenal.
The Portuguese forward becomes the first player to score 100 goals or more in the Premier League and La Liga.
It is an impressive feat for Ronaldo, who keeps delivering for his side despite being in the twilight days of his career.
His goal was an impressive one as well, as he latched on to brilliantly connect with a cross from Nemanja Matic to half the deficit, with United initially trailing 2-0.
The Gunners had gone ahead courtesy of Eddie Nketiah and a penalty from Bukayo Saka.
Ronaldo was making his first appearance for his club since announcing the passing of his newborn son on Monday, April 18.
The Portugal star was a conspicuous absentee from United’s squad for the Liverpool game as he was handed a much-needed compassionate leave.
Ronaldo’s road to 100 Premier League goals
In his first stint at Manchester United, Ronaldo played primarily as a winger from 2003 to 2009 when he eventually left for Los Blancos.
Despite primarily coming in from the flanks, Ronaldo managed to score 83 Premier League goals in his first Premier League stint.
Upon returning to the club in the summer of 2021, Ronaldo has somehow managed to emerge as the club’s top scorer in the 2021/22 season.
His goal against Arsenal also means he joins the elite group of Premier League greats who have scored 100 goals or more including Thierry Henry, Allan Shearer, Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney.
