The Red Devils are currently hunting for a long-term successor to Ralf Rangnick who is expected to take up a consultancy with the club at the end of the season.

Rio Ferdinand backs Thomas Tuchel for the Old Trafford job

However, Rio believes United chiefs should look in the direction of Tuchel in their search for a formidable candidate to take charge of the club this summer.

According to the former Red Devils defender, the Chelsea gaffer ticks all the boxes for an ideal candidate for the Old Trafford hot seat.

"I’m taking Tuchel, man. I don’t care. Tuchel would be the one. He’s got the pedigree," Rio told Vibe with Five.

"He’s shown already that he can come into this league, he’s adapted straight away, he’s won the Champions League, he can galvanise a squad, he can get them playing," he added.
