FootballCristiano Ronaldo Makes Decision on Manchester United Future Amid Exit Rumours
- Cristiano Ronaldo’s dream return to Manchester United has not gone to plan as the Red Devils will go another season without silverware
- The 37-year old has been heavily tipped to move away from Old Trafford at the end of the season, with United’s Champions League place next season not guaranteed
- In a fresh twist, however, reports suggest that the Portugal star will remain at United, with interim boss Ralf Rangnick expected to leave
Cristiano Ronaldo is set to stay at Manchester United beyond the current season, according to latest reports.
The 37-year old has been widely tipped to walk away from Manchester United after a nightmare first season since making his return after 12 years.
United are currently embroiled in an intense battle for a top-four finish, and are certain to end the season without a trophy after getting knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid.
But despite the club’s current woes, Spanish publication AS reports that Ronaldo is willing to see out his 2-year contract at Manchester United.
This will mean staying with the Red Devils past the current season.
Reports further claim that the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is hopeful that United can make a positive managerial appointment once Ralf Rangnick’s interim spell comes to an end.
Mauricio Pochettino is still favourite to take over at Old Trafford, although Ajax boss Erik ten Hag was also linked to the job.
And quite sensationally, Thomas Tuchel’s name was also thrown into the mix as potential successors of Ralf Rangnick.
Ronaldo is currently the club’s top scorer this season with 18 goals across all competitions since his return last summer.
Manchester United are currently fifth in the Premier League table, a point behind Arsenal who have 2 games in hand.
Rashford leaves Manchester
Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported that Ronaldo’s teammate Marcus Rashford jetted out of the country in a bid to clear his head amid a torrid run of form.
