Ralf Rangnick has confessed his Manchester United player’s morale has suffered a huge blow as the Red Devils are suffering from a loss of confidence.
United let another half-time lead slip as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton at Old Trafford last weekend which is the third consecutive game the Red Devils have dropped points in the league.
Speaking ahead of Tuesday night’s Premier League game against Brighton at Old Trafford, the German tactician complained of the mental toughness of his team as reported by Tribal Football.
"Obviously, when you're 1-0 up in three consecutive games and concede an equalizer, this also affects the mind of the players.
"They say we should have been 2-0 or 3-0 up and, all of a sudden, it's 1-1. This affects the mindset of players, it's obvious.
"If you concede an early goal, everyone can understand this affects the confidence of the players, and yes, of course, I spoke with Sascha about that. The only thing we can do is speak to players one by one and as a team, and think about how we score a second or third goal."
Manchester United has invested heavily in their squad with the addition of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane, and Cristiano Ronaldo but that has not helped uplift the morale at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils last won a league title in 2013 under now-retired manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, and Manchester United have now fallen down the pecking order in England behind neighbors Manchester City and Liverpool.
