Manchester City during the week were made aware of 115 charges of breaches of Premier League's Financial Fair Play regulations levied against the club.
The Abu Dhabi-backed club responded by maintaining innocence and accused other Premier League clubs of jealousy for pushing that they are stripped of their titles and ejected from the league if found guilty.
Ahead of setting up an independent judicial panel to carry out another round of investigation on the matter, the club have hired experienced lawyer David Pannick, who would reportedly receive £400,000 per week to work on the case.

Pep Guardiola spent most of his press conferences during the week ahead of the game against Aston Villa answering questions relating to the charges. He pledged his loyalty to the club despite the charges as reported by SuperSport.

The fans of the club made their displeasure towards the Premier League known by booing the league's anthem during the formalities ahead of the kick-off of their match at the Etihad Stadium in a video recirculated on Twitter by Sport Bible.
As spotted by Sport Bible, the fans also displayed a banner for the lawyer, Lord Pannick of Blackstone Chambers, who charges £5,000 per hour as reported by Reuters. The inscription on the banner reads 'Pannick on the streets of London'.
