  • Kevin De Bruyne pulled off a familiar celebration against Brighton after scoring a super long-range goal
  • After scoring the goal, De Bruyne kind of used the same celebration routine as Roberto Firmino
  • Since he was spotted with a black eye, De Bruyne used that moment to cover one eye

Manchester City star midfielder Kevin De Bruyne pulled off a funny celebration style after scoring a stunning goal versus Brighton, which sealed a convincing 3-1 win over the Seagulls.

De Bruyne pulled Roberto Firmino's famous eye patch celebration leaving fans to wonder why he decided to do the celebration.

According to the Sun, De Bruyne was spotted with a heavily bruised eye, drawing mixed reactions from fans on social media. He was hit in the face with a ball in training

However, the Belgian is not a stranger to eye injuries, as he suffered an orbital fracture to his left eye socket during last year's Champions League Final against Chelsea. He clashed heads with Antonio Rudiger and hobbled off the pitch.

De Bruyne copies Firmino celebration

On Saturday, the 31-year-old scored a spectacular goal against Brighton and pulled off a surprising celebration, according to Sportbible.

He collected the ball on the edge of the area before launching a rocket past Brighton keeper Robert Sanchez who couldn't do anything to stop it.

The celebration was similar to that of Liverpool's Roberto Firmino, who used it against Paris Saint-Germain in 2018 after suffering a similar injury.

The win sees City moves back to within one point of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Arsenal will restore their four-point advantage if they beat Southampton away on Sunday.

De Bruyne makes Ballon d'Or history

Sports Brief earlier reported on Kevin De Bruyne making Ballon d'Or history with Manchester City after he finished third in the 2022 Ballon d'Or race.

De Bruyne became the first-ever Manchester City player to finish in a podium place in the history of the awards.

He finished behind eventual winner Real Madrid's Karim Benzema and former Liverpool star Sadio Mane.
