English Premier League club Manchester City have reportedly agreed £500,000-a-week deal to sign Erling Haaland to make him the highest-paid footballer in England.

Sportsmail reports that the Citizens are planning to trigger the striker’s £63million release clause at Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund.

It was gathered the financial package has been approved by the Man City board and a five-year deal could be officially sealed in the next one week.

Dortmund had stated that nothing has been agreed with any club for the player as negotiations continue with the Spanish club Real Madrid and French side Paris Saint-Germain.

There had been hopes that the youngster would extend his deal with Dortmund, but Man City have been quietly making underground moves as they are now closing in on the prolific scorer.

It is understood that manager Pep Guardiola is desperately interested in the striker as he believes Haaland will grow to make history in world football.

In March, Manchester City indicated their interest in Haaland who has become Europe’s hottest property and the terms have been discussed.

A salary of more than £500,000-a-week would see him earn more than the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, who pockets around £385,000.

If the deal goes through, Haaland could make his bow in City colours in the United States, with the club looking at crossing the Atlantic to play two friendlies in July.

Borussia Dortmund’s license director, Sebastian Kehl, has rubbished reports Haaland has signed an agreement to join Premier League side, Manchester City but disclosed the club is waiting on the striker to make a decision on his future.

Haaland however is free to walk away from his present contract with Dortmund if the price is right as the Norwegian has a gentleman’s agreement with the Bundesliga club.
