On Saturday, February 26, 2022, at the Goodison Park, Manchester City and Everton, who have Ukrainian players showed their support by displaying the flag of Ukraine.

Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko gave his countryman Vitaliy Mykolenko of Everton a big hug of encouragement right before the start of the game.

In videos posted on Twitter, the City left-back is seen shedding uncontrollable tears leaving everyone emotional.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Bayern Munich forward Robert Lewandowski has applauded the Polish Football Association for pulling out of their World Cup qualifier against Russia.

Poland were scheduled to play Russia next month, but following the conflict between the latter and neighbouring Ukraine, the Eagles have decided to withdraw from the game.

Lewandowski, who is captain of Poland said on Twitter it was the right decision by the the Polish federation.
