FootballRulani Mokwena Laughs Off Claims That He Failed At Orlando Pirates and Chippa United
- Mamelodi Sundowns coach Rulani Mokwena is in charge of a ruthless trophy-hauling machine
- The Brazilians have won a third consecutive title since he took over the reins from Pitso Mosimane
- Some believe it is easy for Mokwena at Sundows and cited failures at his two previous clubs
Since taking over as the head coach of Mamelodi Sundowns, Rulani Mokwena has headed an unstoppable juggernaut.
The Brazilians have thundered their way to another DStv Premiership title under his watch almost untouched.
Despite this, many of Mokwena's doubters cited his supposed failures at Orlando Pirates and Chippa United - with far fewer resources than the Brazilians - as 'proof' that his success at Chloorkop is artificial.
Dignified and measured as ever in his response, Mokwena said, according to TimesLIVE:

“The game of football is such a strange game. The same way I’ve never defended myself - and believe you me, I can defend myself - for the results at Pirates. People talk about [my stint at] Chippa being a failure, I laugh at those things; Pirates being a failure, I laugh at those things."
Mokwena believes there is a certain narrative people want to drive.
“I laugh because I’ve got facts... So I’ve got to allow people to drive that narrative. But if I allowed you to drive a narrative in the bad moments, I should allow you to drive the narrative in the good moments.”
Sundowns already claim Premiership title
The Brazilians won the DStv Premiership title after Chippa United and SuperSport United played to a 1-1 draw.
This meant Sundowns could not be chased down at the top and had already technically claimed the title.
In a report by the Citizen, Mokwena denied claims it was 'easy' to win a league title and be focused over eight months.

FootballSundowns break two records
Sports Brief previously detailed how the Brazilians shattered two records on the way to the DStv Premiership, which they have already won.
No team before has sealed the league title with seven matches to go in a campaign, with Sundowns holding yet another record this term.
The Brazilians did not have to kick a ball to do so, following SuperSport United drawing 1-1 with Chippa United on Saturday night.
