FootballDStv Premiership Match Preview: Mamelodi Sundowns Looks to Manage Stellenbosch FC Test
- Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch FC will collide in what is arguably the match of the round in the DStv Premiership at Loftus Versfeld
- The defending champions have had an uncharacteristically slow start to their title defence
- The Maroons are proving to be as stubborn as ever, remaining one of four unbeaten teams in the league
Mamelodi Sundowns will welcome Stellenbosch FC to Loftus Versfeld this evening in what should be a cracker of a game.
The defending DStv Premiership champions appear to be dusting off the cobwebs in their quest for a record-extending sixth consecutive title. Bafana Ba Style lies in fourth place with seven points, having won twice, drawn once and lost one. They were tied up in an unexpected 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United last Saturday.
The visitors - alongside Amazulu, TS Galaxy and Marumo, are unbeaten so far in the 2022/23 season. Currently in eighth place, Stellenbosch has six points having won one match and drawn three. They played out a 1-1 draw with their local rivals Cape Town City on the weekend.
Last season, The Maroons were one of the few teams to avoid a defeat against the nigh-unstoppable Sundowns, drawing 1-1 with them before absolutely demolishing them 3-0 in a monumental upset.

DStv Premiership match preview: Orlando Pirates faces awkward Marumo Gallants test
Orlando Pirates will be looking to do away with the stubborn Marumo Gallants tonight in a DStv Premiership encounter at Orlando Stadium.
As reported by Sports Brief, the Buccaneers come into the encounter after a tame and uninspiring 0-0 draw against nemesis SuperSport United, while Gallants drew 2-2 with Royal in an entertaining match. The home side sits in third place on eight points, having won twice, drawn twice and lost once.
The visitors have a strange record, hovering above the relegation zone, having not lost a single match thus far, and are seeking a first win of the season.
