Mamelodi Sundowns are one step closer to securing the DStv Premiership title.
Peter Shalulile was in scintillating form, scoring a hattrick to inspire the team to a 4-2 victory.
Shalulile has now scored 18 goals in the DStv Premiership this season and recorded the first hattrick of the season.
Sundowns got off to the perfect start with Shalulile scoring twice in 16 minutes. The Namibian was lethal in front of goal and punished any Swallows’ mistake. Swallows hit back immediately and Dillon Solomons scored a minute after Shalulile’s second.
Surprise Ralani scored 12 minutes late to give Sundowns their 2-goal advantage again. Masandawana took a 3-1 lead into the break and held that until the dying minutes of the game.
Swallows had great chances in the second half to make the game a closer affair, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Things got tense in the 89th minute, however, as Ruzaigh Gamildien scored from a header to make it 3-2.
It looked like The Dube Birds were going to possibly steal a point but Shalulile killed that dream off. The Sundowns’ striker scored in the 90th minute to notch up the first hattrick of the season and give Sundowns a stunning victory.
The Namibian also earned the man-of-the-match award and took his tally to 18 for the season. Mamelodi Sundowns are now just 10 points away from securing their fifth title in a row.
