The eight teams left in the CAF Champions League have learned their fate today.
The draw for the quarter-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League was conducted at the CAF headquarters in Cairo, Egypt.
The final eight teams are Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), Al Ahly (Egypt), Raja Casablanca (Morocco), ES Sétif (Algeria), Espérance ST (Tunisia), CR Belouizdad (Algeria), Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco) and Petro de Luanda (Angola).
The draw saw Al Ahly (Egypt) scheduled to face Raja Casablanca (Morocco) while ES Sétif (Algeria) will take on Espérance ST (Tunisia). The winner of those two fixtures will meet in the semi-finals.
In the other half of the draw, ES Sétif (Algeria) will battle against Espérance ST (Tunisia) and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa) will battle Petro de Luanda (Angola). The winners of those fixtures will meet in the semi-finals.
Sundowns and Petro are the only two Southern African sides left in the tournament.
North African teams dominate CAF Champions League as Mamelodi Sundowns and Petro de Luanda represent the South
Mamelodi Sundowns will represent South Africa and all of Southern Africa in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals. Sundowns booked their spot in the final eight, topping Group A ahead of Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly.
Of the eight teams that have made it, six teams are all from North Africa, while two are from Southern Africa. Sundowns and Petro de Luanda are the only Southern African sides heading into the draw.
