Mokoena signed from Supersport United despite receiving interest from clubs both locally and internationally.
The Citizen recently raised the question about whether Mokoena had made a mistake by joining the Brazilians as he would have to fight for his place in an already congested team.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns player Jeremy Brockie also got people talking when he took to Twitter to wish Mokoena for his birthday, adding that he couldn’t wait to see him in Europe.
The tweet came before Sundowns officially signed Mokoena from Supersport United and had many speculating that the midfielder would be heading to Europe.
Mamelodi Sundowns’ fans certainly don’t seem to think so as Mokoena scored twice on his debut for the club. Mokoena scored a brace in a friendly against as Sundowns ran out 6-1 winners KickOff reported.

Teboho Mokoena's move to Mamelodi Sundowns is still a hot topic in South Africa and the talented midfielder has now opened up about why he joined the Brazilians amid interest from other clubs, Sports Brief reported.
Mokoena attracted interest from Premier Soccer League clubs including Kaizer Chiefs and Belgian side Anderlect. Teboho Mokoena recently opened up that he wanted to join Sundowns because he was a winner and wanted to join a team of champions.
Mokoena joined Sundowns from Supersport United on a four and a half year deal. Following his move, he penned a message to his former club Supersport United, thanking them for his time at the club. Mokoena was at Supersport since the age of 17, Soccer Laduma reported.
