Premier League club Liverpool are reportedly monitoring Gavi’s situation and are prepared to trigger his £43million buyout clause, Daily Star reports.
The teenage sensation has shown what he is capable of doing and Liverpool are looking to take advantage of Barcelona’s current situation to snap up the teenager.
Many have linked Gavi’s style of play with that of the likes of Xavi and Andres Iniesta as he so far made 13 appearances in La Liga and 19 overall.
His contract with the Catalan club will lapse at the end of 2021 and discussions to extend it have reached an impasse, SunSport reports.
Barcelona are currently seventh on the La Liga standings and their situation got worse having crashed out of the Champions League, bringing an end of 21 years of constant progression to the knockout stages of the competition.
And Gavi is indeed the subject of interest from Liverpool, but Barca are thought to be making a dramatic increase to his clause to fend off interest, with a sum of £840million being reported.

And following their exit from the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, Barcelona manager Xavi is reportedly set to offload three players including goalkeeper ter Stegen.
Journalist Gerard Romero claims that offers will be entertained for ter Stegen, who was widely seen as one of the best goalkeepers on the planet just a few years ago.
Xavi is also open to seeing De Jong leave the club, with right-back Dest also potentially facing an uncertain future at Camp Nou just 18 months after joining the club.
