Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool have made their first efforts towards signing talented Morocco midfielder Sofyan Amrabat.
Amrabat is currently attached to Fiorentina in the Serie A, but that might not be the case in the summer as the English club are highly interested in his services.
The 26-year-old has been one of the standout players in Qatar, and his performances - especially against Spain in the Round of 16 - have attracted interest from a number of European giants.
French outlet Foot Mercado now reports that Jurgen Klopp met with Amrabat’s representatives, in order to get an edge over other clubs.

Liverpool have been in the hunt for a central midfielder for the longest time, and were briefly linked with Aurelien Tchouameni, who eventually joined Real Madrid last summer.
The Fiorentina star has plenty of minutes in the Serie A with his current club, but reports state he would be willing to make a switch elsewhere to fulfil his dream of playing in the Champions League.
He joined the Italian outfit from Club Brugge in 2020, and still has a year-and-a-half left on his current deal.
Amrabat’s agent Mohammed Sinouh also recently admitted there was indeed interest in the midfielder from European heavyweights.
“Of course, I get a lot of phone calls for Sofyan. The whole world has seen he's the best holding midfielder of the World Cup," he said as quoted by Daily Mail.

Sports Brief also reported on Cody Gakpo’s stance on a transfer, amid interest in the Dutch star from Manchester United. He has been in top form for the Dutch at the 2022 World Cup.
Gakpo's three goals have seen interest for the 23-year-old PSV Eindhoven star skyrocket. United were interested in the young star in the summer transfer window, but ended up signing Antony from Ajax for £86 million.
The Dutch forward admitted he had been close to joining the Red Devils, but the move never materialised, according to the Athletic.
