Jurgen Klopp has responded to former Liverpool star Didi Hamann, after the ex-player claimed the Reds boss' days at Anfield are numbered.

Liverpool have endured a slow start to the new season, with the side currently sitting 10th on the Premier League standings.

The Merseysiders have picked up a paltry 10 points from eight last league outings, winning just two of them.

Their struggles on the domestic scene have sparked suggestions that Klopp could be shown the door at Anfield.

Hamann, a former Liverpool player, is one such person who contends the German tactician is living on borrowed time at the club.

"I think at some point we are going to have that discussion about the manager and I'm not sure how far we are from that," Hamann told talkSport via The Daily Mail.

Klopp has now offered a cheeky response to Hamann's claim after he was asked if he is staring at an uncertain future with Liverpool.

Probed if Liverpool needed a spark after their recent struggles, Klopp responded:

"Who said that? Didi Hamann? Oh great. A fantastic source, well respected everywhere." That (being a former Liverpool player) does not give you the right to say what you want, especially when you have no idea."

"I actually think Didi Hamann does not deserve that you use his phrase to ask a question. Try to ask without using the word spark," he added.

Liverpool will be looking to bounce back to winning ways from their weekend defeat at Arsenal, when they play Rangers in the Champions League on Wednesday night.
